Weights are approximate due to moisture contents

Owing to the Indonesian rattan embargo, the price of cane has risen very sharply and we have had to raise ours as well.

It is also not always possible to get the sizes that you  want and the quality is, unfortunately, not as good as it used to be.

There is a hitch with Danish cord production in this country.
However, we are in discussion with a new manufacturer and hope to be able to supply good quality English made paper/Danish cord in the not too distant future.  I still have good stocks of the original English made but we are importing all the laced and black cord from Denmark.

Please ask for samples or send a piece of your old cord and I will provide as close a match as possible.
Danish cord is made of 3 'plys' twisted together.  with LACED cord, each ply is twisted tightly to give a higher profile and a more rope like appearance.
Danish cord  - Depending on the type of cord; approx 1-1.5kg is needed for dining chair with single rails.
Seats using the thicker 3.5mm laced cord may need up to 1.5kg.
Please note:  the thickness size is VERY approximate.

Danish cord nails - 5p each.

Replacing staples with nails is a very time consuming affair.  If you have access to one, it is easier to use a stapler, preferably a narrow crown with narrow crown staples.  Available from Axminster tools.  If you must use nails, I suggest that you drill tiny (staggered) pilot holes first to avoid the seat rail splitting.

Rotacane - A plastic 'centre cane' used for making baskets and trays as well as seat weaving

No longer made but we try to keep some in stock, both cream and buff, staking and weaving.                                         Email or phone for details
