We have found that it is best to use these
dry but you can soak in
lukewarm water for 20-30mins before use. The supplier does
NOT
recommend soaking.
The average riempie chair or bench with a
seat with 8 or 9 holes per side, will need about 4-5 strips.
Your order will include a selection of
lengths - averaging at least 2m

instructions for DIY riempieing with white riempies.
The method for using raw riempie is similar but requires a
much longer soaking in cold water. |
For a sample of riempie or any seat-weaving material; send a stamped self addressed envelope and 2 First
Class stamps.

Rattan CANE
for traditional hand caning
Weights are
approximate due to moisture contents
Owing to the ongoing Indonesian rattan
embargo, the price of cane has risen and we have had to raise ours
as well.
I have 'sourced' a supply of 'Gold label' cane which is
far better than most.
However, the cost is higher compared with
other suppliers. |

DANISH CORD |
Danish cord was manufacturered in
England as well as Denmark but the English manufacturer has now stopped producing it
and I am not importing any due to the cost.
|
|
I do still have lots of:
Danish cord nails -
6p each.
These have shanks of either 20mm or 25mm
Replacing staples with nails
is a very time consuming affair. If you have access to one, it is
easier to use a stapler, preferably a narrow crown with narrow crown
staples. Available from Axminster tools. If you must use
nails, I suggest that you drill tiny (staggered) pilot holes first to
avoid the seat rail splitting. |
